Nightmode Studio
Nightmode Studio is a technology startup based in South Wales, and we’re growing our technical team.
We’re looking to hear from talented, technically minded people who could become part of the next stage of Nightmode.
We don’t have a fixed recruitment timeframe. We’re interested in finding the right people — individuals with the technical ability, attitude and potential to grow with us as our products, clients and opportunities develop.
We work across software development, artificial intelligence, large language models, automation and the IoT (Internet of Things), using emerging technology to solve real-world problems.
We’re not looking for one particular type of developer or a specific programming language. We’re looking for people with strong technical foundations, practical problem-solving skills and a genuine enthusiasm for building things.
You might be a recent computing or engineering graduate, have industry experience, or have developed your skills through practical projects and experimentation. What matters to us is your technical grounding, your ability to learn and the quality of the work you produce.

What you could be working on
As part of the Nightmode team, you’ll work closely with senior management and the wider team across a range of products and client projects.
Depending on the project, that could involve:
01
Working with, understanding and extending existing codebases
02
Developing new features, applications, tools and reusable code libraries
03
Building products for existing and future clients
04
Testing, troubleshooting and improving existing systems
05
Working with APIs, databases and third-party services
06
Experimenting with AI and large language models
07
Developing solutions involving automation, connected devices and the IoT
08
Researching new technologies and exploring how they can be applied to real-world problems
09
Taking technical requirements and turning them into reliable working solutions
10
Documenting your work clearly
11
Taking ownership of assigned tasks and reporting on progress, challenges and next steps
12
Supporting other members of the team as we develop and grow our technical capability
You won’t necessarily be expected to know how to do all of these things on day one. An important part of working at Nightmode is being comfortable approaching an unfamiliar technical problem, learning what’s needed and working towards a solution.

What we’re looking for
We’d like to hear from people with:
01
A strong grounding in computing, software development, electronic/electrical engineering or another relevant technical discipline
02
Practical coding experience in at least one programming language
03
Confidence reading, understanding and developing code written by other people
04
The ability to work with existing codebases rather than always starting from scratch
05
Strong technical problem-solving skills
06
Evidence of practical work — whether through employment, university, personal projects, open-source contributions or experimentation
07
The ability to take direction and then work independently to complete a task
08
Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a small team
09
Attention to detail and pride in producing high-quality work
10
Curiosity and a willingness to learn unfamiliar languages, frameworks and technologies
11
A genuine interest in AI, large language models, connected technology and where technology is heading next
We’re much more interested in your technical foundations, the quality of your work and your potential than whether you can tick every box.

Why Nightmode?
Nightmode is still young, and that’s part of the opportunity.
You’ll have the chance to work directly on real products and client projects, solve real problems and see the results of what you build.
As our technical team grows, we want the people who join us to have an opportunity to help shape how we develop products, approach problems and work together.
Our approach is practical. We’re interested in what emerging technology can actually do — not technology for technology’s sake. We identify real problems, experiment, build and turn the right ideas into useful, reliable products.

Location & flexible working
Nightmode Studio is headquartered in Llanelli, South Wales.
We value working together in person and would like members of the team to spend some time with us at our Llanelli office, particularly while getting to know the team and our products.
At the same time, we recognise that great people aren’t all based in the same place, so we’re open to hybrid and remote working arrangements for the right candidates.
We’re also exploring opportunities to establish a presence in North Wales / M-SParc, and welcome applications from talented people across Wales and beyond.
(05)
Welsh language
Welsh-language communication skills would be an advantage, but they are not essential.
We welcome applications from Welsh speakers, learners and non-Welsh speakers alike.
(06)
Equal opportunities
Nightmode Studio is committed to creating an open and inclusive working environment.
We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and will consider candidates based on their skills, experience, potential and ability to contribute to the team.
Interested?
If this sounds like something you’d be interested in, we’d love to hear from you.
Tell us a little about yourself, what you’ve worked on or built, and why you think Nightmode might be a good fit for you. We’re particularly interested in seeing examples of practical work, whether that’s professional, academic or something you’ve built yourself.
We’re also keen to hear from universities, colleges and other higher education institutions interested in working with Nightmode to create opportunities for graduates and emerging technical talent.
If you’re interested in joining Nightmode, or you represent a higher education institution interested in working with us — please get in touch.
A note to recruitment agencies
Nightmode Studio does not accept approaches, candidate submissions or speculative CVs from recruitment agencies in relation to these opportunities. Any unsolicited submissions will not be considered, and agencies making unsolicited approaches will not be considered for future recruitment partnerships.
